Why don’t we see other neurological conditions?

Right tool for the right job

Some neurological conditions can be safely assessed by telehealth.

Conditions such as epilepsy and headache are often diagnosed and managed mainly through the patient’s history, symptom description, and review of tests like MRI or EEG, which can be done effectively via video consultation.

No cutting corners

Some conditions require a detailed in-person examination.

Many neurological problems need a hands-on physical examination (for example testing strength, reflexes, sensation, or coordination). These conditions are best assessed face-to-face to ensure accurate diagnosis. We believe in only providing care for conditions that can be safely managed without necessitating in-person review. We will not provide services for general neurological conditions that require more nuanced physical examination (movement disorders, neuropathies, neuromuscular conditions, neuroimmunological conditions) unless deemed feasible from the referral.

Focus on specific conditions

Focusing on specific conditions helps provide better care.

By concentrating on epilepsy and headache disorders, the service can provide more specialised expertise, shorter waiting times, and more accessible care for these conditions.

Referrals will be assessed on a case by case basis
